50th Anniversary
Three Rivers Arts Festival
Three Rivers Quilters Guild, was offered the opportunity to create a community quilt to commemorate this anniversary.
June 12-14, 2009

We coordinated with other area quilters and the festival attendees to create a quilt top for future display by the TRAF (and hopefully at next year's TRQ show). We asked the visitors who attended the show to hand-piece 9-patch blocks and signature blocks to begin this quilt. A beautiful city-themed design of the "Point" is the center of the quilt, and the newly created blocks will be added around it.Members brought small quilt(s) for display in our tent during the time they volunteered. As part of our mission, this gave us the opportunity to promote the guild, quilting, and the TRQ 2010 show. They helped with talking to visitors, sharing information about our guild, and assisting visitors with sewing the blocks. Coloring fabric markers and muslin fabric squares were made available for those too young to sew. Thanks to all who were able to participate in this volunteer opportunity.
Special thanks to those that helped coordinators Patty Schreiber, Nora Hufnagle, Joanne Bergman and Anabeth Dollins (Quilt Pittsburgh) with set-up and take-down each day,
and to all of those who helped to cut the patches so that they were ready for the visitors to sew.
