Members of Three Rivers Quilters, Inc. come from many walks of life. We are teachers,
homemakers, office workers, saleswomen, nurses, world travelers. We share a common
thread. We delight in the pleasure of creation and the opportunity to share our
vision.
Membership is open to all who have an interest in quilting, no matter the level
of expertise. We welcome guests. Please check our calendar

Our meetings
Member benefits
Community outreach
Our monthly meetings:
- Regular guild meetings are at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month,
at Baldwin Community United Methodist Church, Baptist and Weyman Roads,
in Whitehall Borough, south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- At 7 p.m., we have social time (with refreshments!) and a preview
of the evening's show-and-tell.
- After the 7:30 business meeting comes our members' show-and-tell.
We share our creations, in various stages of completion, or show an item from our collection.
- There is a planned program, which may include an interesting speaker, a slide presentation, or a demonstration of an aspect of quilting.
- Vistors are welcome to attend. You may be our guest for up to two meetings before joining.

In addition to our monthly meetings, Three Rivers Quilters members enjoy the following:
- A monthly newsletter, Patches and Pieces
- The "Busy Bee" block. A block pattern is
published in the newsletter. Members make one or more of the blocks;
each block submitted gets one chance in a drawing to receive ALL of the blocks.
- Participation in Three Rivers Quilters community outreach programs
- Periodic workshops, usually for a nominal fee or free for members. Subjects cover
all aspects of quilting, from design to sewing techniques.
- Demonstrations. In keeping with our desire to educate the public on the art of
quiltmaking, guild members are often invited to demonstrate quilting skills and
share quilting knowledge at various public and historic happenings.
- Access to our lending library of books and videos
- Our annual quilters' retreat.
- Group-sponsored trips to quilt shows around the country.
- Small-group meetings, usually held monthly.
- Monthly 'stitch-ins,' held on the first Wednesday of the month,
September through June. Finish a project, baste a quilt, work on a
charity quilt, or ask for help on a quilting question.
- The guild cookbook project, celebrating the wonderful food provided
by members at our two covered-dish parties (July and December).
- An annual flea market of member quilting items.

Our community outreach activities include:
- an annual quilt show, the Three Rivers Quilt Festival,
a juried and judged exhibit which celebrates the art and craft of quiltmaking. Proceeds
from the show allow us to make meaningful contributions both to the quiltmaking community
and to the community at large.
- annual donation of quilts to such Pittsburgh-area groups as Womansplace
and Mom's House, using both purchased and donated materials.
- frequent donation of isolet quilts for the premature babies of the West Penn Hospital
Neonatal Unit, using fabric donated by guild members and backing and batting donated
by the West Penn Cot Club.
- The 2004 Wal-Mart Quilt Block Contest. After the national winners were chosen
in the 2004 Wal-Mart Quilt Block Contest, members of Three Rivers Quilters made
two quilts from the blocks that were left over. These and other quilts similarly completed
will be donated to the children's hospitals in each state.
