* Professional: The qualification for whether a quilt should be entered into the professional category will be at the entrant's discretion. If they feel that they are a "Professional Quilter" then the quilt should be placed into this category.

General Rules:

  1. Limit of three (3) quilts per entrant. All entries will be judged.
  2. All entries must be quilted. A quilted entry consists of three (3) layers, primarily fabric, held together by stitching. Quilting stitches piercing all three (3) layers and are distributed throughout the entry, EXCEPT for those placed in the Potpourri category. No Tied quilts will be accepted. NO WEIGHTS OF ANY KIND SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE QUILT.
  3. All entries must have been completed within the last five (5) years. Please do no submit entries completed before January 1, 2000.
  4. All entries must be clean, labeled, and ready to hang. Instructions will be included in the jury acceptance letter.
  5. No items entered in previous Three Rivers Quilt Festivals should be submitted.

Each entrant must submit:

  • One completed, signed entry form for each entry.
  • Two (2) color photographs, maximum size of 4 inch x 6 inch for each entry as follows:
    1. Full front view
    2. Close-up detail of front
  • Entry fee of $10.00 per entry. Members of Three Rivers Quilters, Inc., get their first entry free. Make checks payable to "Three Rivers Quilters, Inc."
  • Legal sized self-addressed stamped envelope for notification of jury decision. Entrants with more than one entry should send only one (1) envelope.

Security will be provided 24 hours a day during the show.

Insurance during the show will be provided by Three Rivers Quilters, Inc. Large quilts valued at more than $500 and small quilts valued at more than $100 require attached written appraisal. For insurance purposes, quilts whose shortest side is less than 48 inches will be considered small quilts.

Shipping costs to and from the show, including insurance during shipping, are the responsibility of the entrant. Instructions will be included in the Jury Acceptance Letter.

Quilts For Sale: There will be a 10 percent handling fee for quilts sold at the show.

Three Rivers Quilt Festival is a juried and judged annual exhibition of quilts sponsored by Three Rivers Quilters, Inc. to promote the art of quilt making. The show is held in two buildings at the Castle Shannon Fire Hall, Route 88 and Grove Road, Pittsburgh, PA.
